| ARC 2009 |
| 17th November - 13th December 2009 |
 |
|
Originally conceived as a friendly race for cruising yachts to make the Atlantic crossing safer and more enjoyable, the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers has now grown into the largest Transocean sailing event in the world. Every year hundreds of yachts and thousands of crew members travel to Gran Canaria to prepare to cross the Atlantic Ocean on the trade wind trip to St. Lucia.
|
|
We have individual berths available for this 2700 mile race which we expect to take between 14 and 18 days depending on the weather conditions. The package will also include a few days before the race to help prepare the yacht and a couple of days after the finish to relax and enjoy the post race festivities.
|
|
Being part of the ARC is a very special experience and the atmosphere that thousands of crew from many different countries generate is impossible to describe. We will be competing in the cruising division and even though it is highly contested we expect to achieve a good result.

Berths on this trip are available to sailors of all levels. However, due to the nature of the event you need to have enough sailing experience to understand what a 14 to 18 day non-stop trip will involve.
The Star Chaser ARC package includes :-
- Accommodation on board the boat during the event and all meals while at sea.
- Use of wet weather gear and all safety equipment on board.
- All race entry fees, mooring fees and fuel.
- Regatta polo shirt and cap.
- Training from our expert skipper and crew.

Here's some feedback from Craig and Gustav who joined our ARC 2007 adventure !
“The most amazing experience of my life. Boogie the skipper was right when he said at the start you will experience every emotion going!!”
“Safety and the well being of the crew were paramount and the attention to detail was 1st class. The trip itself fulfilled everything and more and will live with me forever.”
“I often wish we were back out there surfing down a wave on Star Chaser. There is no better feeling than helming a Swan 51 as the wave picks you up and pushes you onwards!”
Craig also mentioned the crew were “the best!” but there was one thing he would have liked to do differently and that was to “not get off the boat!”
Craig Short - ARC 2007
“Dear Starchaser - first of all, thanks for a life experience. Even though I was the only one aboard with my sailing experience that was not-existent, I wasn’t afraid at any point of the crossing thanks to the skipper and his crew. The thing that started out being an enormous challenge you could tell your friends or grandchildren about turned into a memory for lifetime. That crossing was definitely not my last, I hope not. Thanks guys!”
Gustav, Denmark - ARC 2007
